Terms of service

Last updated: [date]

Draft. This is a plain-language draft that describes how Oyao works today. It must be reviewed by a Nigerian lawyer before launch. Items in [square brackets] still need to be confirmed.

About these terms

These terms apply when you use the Oyao rider or driver app, run by Cub360 Ltd. By creating an account you agree to them. You must be 18 or older.

What Oyao is

Oyao connects riders with independent drivers in Port Harcourt. Oyao is not a transport operator and does not employ drivers. Drivers are responsible for their vehicle, licence, papers and insurance.

Fares and payment

The fare is shown before you book and is based on distance, estimated time and the current fuel price. You pay your driver directly, in cash or by bank transfer, at the end of the trip. The driver confirms they have been paid. Oyao does not take payments for rides inside the app.

Drivers keep 100% of the fare. Drivers pay Oyao a flat subscription instead of a commission. [Confirm subscription prices and terms.]

Being a rider

Be ready at the pickup point, use the trip PIN so the trip only starts in the right car, treat drivers with respect, and pay the fare shown. Repeated no-shows, late cancellations or not paying can lead to strikes, suspension or removal.

Being a driver

Give accurate documents, drive safely and lawfully, match the car and plate shown in the app, and treat riders with respect. We review every application and may refuse or remove a driver for safety reasons.

Strikes, suspension and appeals

We may give strikes, suspend or remove an account for breaking these terms or for safety reasons. If this happens to you, you can usually appeal from inside the app, and a different team member will review it. [Confirm exact rules shown to users.]

Safety

The SOS button and trip link are aids, not a replacement for emergency services. In an emergency, call 112.

Our responsibility

[Lawyer to complete: limits of liability, insurance, disputes between riders and drivers, governing law (Nigeria) and how to resolve disputes.]

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app or on this page.
