Who we are
Oyao is run by Cub360 Ltd, Port Harcourt, Nigeria. This policy explains what personal information the Oyao rider and driver apps collect, why, and the choices you have. We handle personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
What we collect
Riders: your name, phone number or e-mail used to sign in, a profile selfie, your trip history, ratings, the locations you ask to be picked up from and dropped off at, your location while a trip is active, emergency contacts you add, and a photo of a payment receipt if you choose to upload one.
Drivers: everything above that applies to you, plus your full name, phone number, home address, National Identity Number (NIN), driver's licence, vehicle papers, insurance, selfies, guarantor details, the bank account you receive transfers into, your location while you are online, and the results of our review.
Both: a device token so we can send notifications, and basic technical information needed to keep the apps working and secure.
Why we use it
To match riders with nearby drivers, run the trip, work out the fare, and show each person who they are meeting (photo, car and plate).
To keep people safe: the trip PIN, SOS, the live trip link you choose to share, reviewing driver applications, and acting on strikes, suspensions and appeals.
To help you when something goes wrong (support tickets) and to meet legal duties.
Who sees it
During a trip, the rider and driver see each other's first name, photo, rating and trip details. Drivers never see a rider's phone number or e-mail through the app.
Anyone you send a trip link to can see that trip's live progress until it ends or expires.
Our staff see what they need for their role. Driver documents and photos are kept private and are only opened by signed-in staff.
We use trusted service providers to run Oyao (for example Google Firebase for hosting, sign-in and notifications, and a maps provider for routes and fares). [List providers and where data is stored.]
We do not sell your personal data.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is active and for as long as needed for safety, disputes and legal reasons. [Add retention periods.]
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data. You can delete your account from inside the app. Some records, such as safety reports and trip history, may be kept where the law or safety requires it.
To make a request or ask a question, contact us using the details at the bottom of this page. You also have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Children
Oyao is for people aged 18 and over.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or on this page.
